New York Line By Line
Description: A fresh representation of the iconic Times Square in New York City - Each individual line of yarn was cut and mounted by hand, meticulously filling in the scene from one end of the frame to the other.
Every section required a re-coating before the next line of fabric could be applied.
Heavily influenced by the vibrant colors and bold lines of mid-20th century pop art, paired with an affinity for textures and patterns, Pikeβs work stands out by leveraging limited color palettes to create an engaging sense of dimension.
Medium: Yarn On Wood Panel
Dimensions: 30 x 24 x 1.5 inches
Massachusetts College of Art and Designβs Annual Auction
The MassArt Auction is a fundraiser to support MassArt students in need of financial aid (through grants and scholarships) to help in pursuing their artistic journey. The pieces sold at this auction are created by both acclaimed and upcoming artists.
This was my second year submitting a piece as an alumnus.
